Build San Antonio Green awards 2024 Innovation and Performance Award to Beazer Homes
San Antonio, Texas. – December 11, 2024 – Beazer Homes was honored with the 2024 Innovation and Performance Award from Build San Antonio Green (BSAG), presented by Mayor Ron Nirenberg at the Smart, Progressive, and Resilient City (SPARC) party in November. This recognition highlights Beazer’s commitment to innovative, energy-efficient, and sustainable building practices. Beazer Homes was the first national public homebuilder to commit to building 100% Zero Energy Ready Homes TM certified by the U.S. Department of Energy by the end of 2025.
"We are honored to be recognized by Build San Antonio Green for our efforts in energy efficiency and sustainability," said Shane Anthony, division president of Beazer Homes in San Antonio. "This award symbolizes another step forward in expanding access to healthier, more sustainable homes.”
As BSAG’s first large-scale builder to meet EPA Energy Star Version 3.2 standards, Beazer Homes is proud to lead the way in the green building sector. By building every home to the standards established by the Department of Energy for Zero Energy Ready Home certification, Beazer produces homes that achieve an average of 38% energy improvement over standard code-built homes. “We remain committed to building homes that not only meet but exceed environmental and energy standards for the San Antonio community,” said Anthony.
In addition, Beazer was recognized for achieving the lowest Home Energy Rating System (HERS) score for a BSAG-certified new construction home. While the average code-built home earns a HERS score of 58, this home, located in the Comanche Ridge community, earned an impressive score of 32, representing 43% more energy efficiency than homes built to code.
Beazer Homes has 13 communities in development in metro San Antonio, including Seguin, San Antonio, New Braunfels, Helotes, Cibolo, Schertz, and Universal City. Each community offers Zero Energy Ready homes. “We are excited to continue to bring energy-efficient homes to San Antonio and are eager to welcome our future residents to healthy, more sustainable living,” Anthony said.
